The world of Strengths and Weaknesses

STRENGTHS ✓

✓ I had to think quick, due to the lack of actors, and time wasted on waiting, so I decided to put my consideration of my quirky props. I used various props, but didn't want the trailer to be too long, so I played around.

✓ Even though I stumbled upon magisto - I did not want to fall into the trap of using it as a mere clutch- so i ensured that I edited all my styles/cut my video/editing my own lighting colour shades on movie maker before adding it to it. This was great on adding a professional title t Adding a sweet touch to my own editing style. I like the idea of a flip book vintage style so i did that.

✓Similarly, to a website, for instance with Wordpress.. you can play around with the colours/pages. Nevertheless, it is your footage and your design what truly captures the essence of your video.

✓Nevertheless, it is important to look at these problems, and see them as great challenges through my hard work, that critically show that the destiny of perfection, is fairly limited.

✓This idea of perfection was definitely not a notion on which I was going for, luckily for me- it is for the audience to decide whether or not.. it will be liked.

✓ I did use a credit add-on at th end of the trailer, would could easily be seen as a subversion from the normalities of normal trailer videos, however that is for the audience to decide.

✓After creating this experimental idea, I have come up with so many more IDEAS to experiment round with. It is rather frustrating to come up with them at the end- but that's what it's all about. Finding/creating/making ideas...

Hopefully in the future, I can work with these.. and create more little experimental videos that follow my style of the world the 'quirky'.

WEAKNESSES // HOW I SOLVED THEM ✖

✖ I desired several actors, where I sent out text messages, email.. The problem here was that so many people did not answer in time or at all. People were too shy/ didn't want to be in the performance- which was sort of a shame/

✖ However, to overcome this problem, I concentrated my effort on props, and watching more inspiration music videos, artworks that would influence my project. This meant that I could easily concentrate on the PROPS rather than the actors/actress.

✖ A small fee had to be paid in order to use the editing site that I had chosen, but that was fine. As the professionalism (neat titles) was what I wanted. To clean everything up, that I had already edited. Nonetheless, this is an important future point to take into consideration- with future designs, sets, and props included. As budgets are of huge importance.

✖Due to the intense editing, and sorting clips that I didn't want to use. After a quick peer show, they noticed that I accidently used the wrong clip that showed the Nike branding. This goes into a another huge new debate of branding- and legal requirements. Due to my negligence, and time & space. I had to leave the sign in there. However, luckily due to this peer evaluation, they mentioned to see this. However, I must carry out that in no way I am using the Nike sign or have been paid by Nike to present this. This was purely a playful creation created for my experimental project.

✖Make sure to convert files if needed. Had to convert mpegs to mp4s / mov to ensure they could be edited as well as cleaning the files/adding effects/... and so on.

Nonetheless, I have taken everything into consideration, and hereby, note for future creations. Hopefully for the future, I will create magical, better and much more creative projects, from experiencing the strengths and weaknesses that occured in this one.
